• 1 The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.
• 2 And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.
• 3 And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.
• 4 Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.
• 5 Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
• 6 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
• 7 And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
• 8 And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
• 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
• 10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.
• 11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.
• 12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;
• 13 When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.
• 14 And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
• 15 The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
• 16 And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.
• 17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

• 1 The burden of a word of Jehovah against the land of Hadrach, and Demmeseh -- his place of rest: (When to Jehovah is the eye of man, And of all the tribes of Israel.)
• 2 And also Hamath doth border thereon, Tyre and Zidon, for -- very wise!
• 3 And Tyre doth build a bulwark to herself, And doth heap silver as dust, And gold as mire of out-places.
• 4 Lo, the Lord doth dispossess her, And He hath smitten in the sea her force, And she with fire is consumed.
• 5 See doth Ashkelon and fear, Also Gaza, and she is exceedingly pained, Also Ekron -- for her expectation dried up, And perished hath a king from Gaza, And Ashkelon doth not remain,
• 6 And dwelt hath a foreigner in Ashdod, And I have cut off the excellency of the Philistines.
• 7 And turned aside his blood from his mouth, His abominations from between his teeth, And he hath remained, even he, to our God, And he hath been as a leader in Judah, And Ekron as a Jebusite.
• 8 And I have pitched for My house a camp, Because of the passer through, and of the returner, And pass not through against them again doth an exactor, For, now, I have seen with My eyes.
• 9 Rejoice exceedingly, O daughter of Zion, Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, Lo, thy King doth come to thee, Righteous -- and saved is He, Afflicted -- and riding on an ass, And on a colt -- a son of she-asses.
• 10 And I have cut off the chariot from Ephraim, And the horse from Jerusalem, Yea, cut off hath been the bow of battle, And he hath spoken peace to nations, And his rule is from sea unto sea, And from the river unto the ends of earth.
• 11 Also thou -- by the blood of thy covenant, I have sent thy prisoners out of the pit, There is no water in it.
• 12 Turn back to a fenced place, Ye prisoners of the hope, Even to-day a second announcer I restore to thee.
• 13 For I have trodden for Me Judah, A bow I have filled with Ephraim, And I have stirred up thy sons, O Zion, Against thy sons, O Javan, And I have set thee as the sword of a hero.
• 14 And Jehovah doth appear for them, And gone forth as lightning hath His arrow, And the Lord Jehovah with a trumpet bloweth, And He hath gone with whirlwinds of the south.
• 15 Jehovah of Hosts doth cover them over, And they consumed, and subdued sling-stones, Yea, they have drunk, They have made a noise as wine, And they have been full as a bowl, As corners of an altar.
• 16 And saved them hath Jehovah their God In that day, as a flock of His people, For stones of a crown are displaying themselves over His ground.
• 17 For what His goodness! and what His beauty! Corn the young men, And new wine the virgins -- make fruitful!

• 9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; Lowly, and riding on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
• 10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, And the horse from Jerusalem; And the battle bow will be cut off; And he will speak peace to the nations: And his dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.
• 11 As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.
• 12 Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.
• 13 For indeed I bend Judah as a bow for me. I have filled the bow with Ephraim; And I will stir up your sons, Zion, Against your sons, Greece, And will make you like the sword of a mighty man.
• 14 Yahweh will be seen over them; And his arrow will go flash like lightning; And the Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet, And will go with whirlwinds of the south.
• 15 Yahweh of Hosts will defend them; And they will destroy and overcome with sling-stones; And they will drink, and roar as through wine; And they will be filled like bowls, Like the corners of the altar.
• 16 Yahweh their God will save them in that day as the flock of his people; For they are like the jewels of a crown, Lifted on high over his land.
• 17 For how great is his goodness, And how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men flourish, And new wine the virgins.

• 1 An oracle of the word of the LORD concerning the land of Hadrach, with its focus on Damascus: The eyes of all humanity, especially of the tribes of Israel, are toward the LORD,
• 2 as are those of Hamath also, which adjoins Damascus, and Tyre and Sidon, though they consider themselves to be very wise.
• 3 Tyre built herself a fortification and piled up silver like dust and gold like the mud of the streets!
• 4 Nevertheless the Lord will evict her and shove her fortifications into the sea— she will be consumed by fire.
• 5 Ashkelon will see and be afraid; Gaza will be in great anguish, as will Ekron, for her hope will have been dried up. Gaza will lose her king, and Ashkelon will no longer be inhabited.
• 6 A mongrel people will live in Ashdod, for I will greatly humiliate the Philistines.
• 7 I will take away their abominable religious practices; then those who survive will become a community of believers in our God, like a clan in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.
• 8 Then I will surround my temple to protect it like a guard from anyone crossing back and forth; so no one will cross over against them anymore as an oppressor, for now I myself have seen it.
• 9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you: he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey— on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.
• 10 I will remove the chariot from Ephraim and the warhorse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be removed. Then he will announce peace to the nations. His dominion will be from sea to sea and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.
• 11 Moreover, as for you, because of our covenant relationship secured with blood, I will release your prisoners from the waterless pit.
• 12 Return to the stronghold, you prisoners, with hope; today I declare that I will return double what was taken from you.
• 13 I will bend Judah as my bow; I will load the bow with Ephraim, my arrow! I will stir up your sons, Zion, against yours, Greece, and I will make you, Zion, like a warrior's sword.
• 14 Then the LORD will appear above them, and his arrow will shoot forth like lightning; the Lord GOD will blow the trumpet and will sally forth on the southern storm winds.
• 15 The LORD who rules over all will guard them, and they will prevail and overcome with sling stones. Then they will drink, and will become noisy like drunkards, full like the sacrificial basin or like the corners of the altar.
• 16 On that day the LORD their God will deliver them as the flock of his people, for they are the precious stones of a crown sparkling over his land.
• 17 How precious and fair! Grain will make the young men flourish and new wine the young women.

Zechariah 9:1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

• 1 A message from God. This is the Lord's message against Hadrach's country and his capital city, Damascus. "The tribes of Israel are not the only people who know about God. Everyone looks to him for help.
• 2 And this message is against Hamath, which borders Hadrach's country. And this message is against Tyre and Sidon, even though those people have been so wise and skillful.
• 3 Tyre is built like a fort. The people there have collected so much silver that it is like dust, and gold is as common as clay.
• 4 But the Lord God will take it all. He will destroy her powerful navy and that city will be destroyed by fire!
• 5 "The people in Ashkelon will see this and they will be afraid. The people of Gaza will shake with fear, and the people of Ekron will lose all hope when they see this happen. There will be no king left in Gaza. No one will live in Ashkelon anymore.
• 6 The people in Ashdod will not even know who their real fathers are. I will completely destroy the proud Philistines.
• 7 They will no longer eat meat with the blood still in it or any other forbidden food. Any Philistine left alive will become a part of my people; they will be just one more tribe in Judah. The people of Ekron will become a part of my people, as the Jebusites did.
• 8 I will protect my country. I will not let enemy armies pass through it. I will not let them hurt my people anymore. With my own eyes I saw how much my people suffered."
• 9 People of Zion, rejoice! People of Jerusalem, shout with joy! Look, your king is coming to you! He is the good king who won the victory, but he is humble. He is riding on a donkey, on a young donkey born from a work animal.
• 10 The king says, "I destroyed the chariots in Ephraim and the horse soldiers in Jerusalem. I destroyed the bows used in war." That king will bring news of peace to the nations. He will rule from sea to sea, from the Euphrates River to all the faraway places on earth.
• 11 Jerusalem, we used blood to seal your agreement, so I am setting your people free from that empty hole in the ground.
• 12 Prisoners, go home! Now you have something to hope for. I am telling you now, I am coming back to you.
• 13 Judah, I will use you like a bow. Ephraim, I will use you like arrows. Israel, I will use you like a sword to fight against the men of Greece.
• 14 The Lord will appear to them, and he will shoot his arrows like lightning. The Lord God will blow the trumpet, and the army will rush forward like a desert dust storm.
• 15 The Lord All-Powerful will protect them. The soldiers will use rocks and slings to defeat the enemy. They will spill the blood of their enemies. It will flow like wine. It will be like the blood that is thrown on the corners of the altar!
• 16 At that time the Lord their God will save his people like a shepherd saves his sheep. They will be very precious to him. They will be like sparkling jewels in his land.
• 17 Everything will be good and beautiful! There will be a wonderful crop, but it will not be just the food and wine. It will be all the young men and women!

• 1 The burden of the word of the Lord, in the land of Sedrach, and his hxnm ambiguous sacrifice shall be in Damascus; for the Lord looks upon men, and upon all the tribes of Israel.
• 2 And in Emath, even in her coasts, are Tyre and Sidon, because they were very wise.
• 3 And Tyrus built strong-holds for herself, and heaped up silver as dust, and gathered gold as the mire of the ways.
• 4 And therefore the Lord will take them for a possession, and will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be consumed with fire.
• 5 Ascalon shall see, and fear; Gaza also, and shall be greatly pained, and Accaron; for she is ashamed Alex. of her hope at her trespass; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ascalon shall not be inhabited.
• 6 And aliens shall dwell in Azotus, and I will bring down the pride of the Philistines.
• 7 And I will take their blood out of their mouth, and their abominations from between their teeth; and these also shall be left to our God, and they shall be as a captain of a thousand in Juda, and Accaron as a Jebusite.
• 8 And I will set up a Or, bulwark; See Zep 2:14 defence for my house, that they may not pass through, nor turn back, neither shall there any more come upon them one to drive them away: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
• 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion; proclaim it aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem; Mt 21:5; Joh 12:15. behold, the King is coming to thee, just, and Gr. saving a Saviour; he is meek and riding on an ass, and a young foal.
• 10 And he shall destroy the chariots out of Ephraim, and the horse out of Jerusalem, and the bow of war shall be utterly destroyed; and there shall be abundance and peace out of the nations; and he shall rule over the waters as far as the sea, and the rivers to the ends of the earth.
• 11 And thou by the blood of thy covenant has sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit that has no water.
• 12 Ye shall dwell in strongholds, ye prisoners of the congregation: and for one day of thy Or, sojourning captivity I will recompense thee double.
• 13 For I have bent thee, O Juda, for myself as a bow, I have filled Or, it with Ephraim Ephraim; and I will raise up thy children, O Sion, against the children of the Greeks, and I will handle thee as the sword of a warrior.
• 14 And the Lord shall be over them, and his arrow shall go forth as lightning: and the Lord Almighty shall blow with the trumpet; and shall proceed with the tumult of his threatening.
• 15 The Lord Almighty shall protect them, and they shall destroy them, and overwhelm them with sling-stones; and they shall swallow them down as wine, and fill Alex. the altar as bowls the bowls as the altar.
• 16 And the Lord their God shall save them in that day, even his people as a flock; for holy stones are rolled upon his land.
• 17 For if he has anything good, and if he has anything fair, the young men shall have corn, and there shall be fragrant wine to the virgins.
